Mayan Folkloric Organization is a non-profit 501c3 organization, incorporated in 2007 in Chicago, Illinois. It was founded with a mission to motivate our community to learn, maintain and transmit the Guatemalan Mayan culture through music, cultural workshops and ethnic dance.
Our vision is to fundamentally achieve our goal of promoting and enriching the Guatemalan Mayan culture.
Mayan Folkloric’s main objective is to increase awareness of the Guatemalan Mayan roots through cultural workshops. We also offer classes for all ages in learning how to play the marimba as well as other Mayan musical instruments. Ethnic dances from the different Guatemalan regions are also taught in group sessions.
Our other objective is to provide humanitarian aid to those communities that are underdeveloped and are in need of help within Guatemala. In particular we seek to fund projects with the needed resources in order to improve infrastructure, education and way of life as well as provide aid during a natural disaster relief effort.
